Job Summary
Role: Staff Accountant

Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.

  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.

  • Maintains the general ledger and closes monthly books; posts transactions, imports sales transactions from multiple systems, categorize records in the GL and ensures proper documentation for each transaction.

  • Prepares journal and maintains accruals and prepaid expenses schedule, post payroll journal entries to accounting system

  • Oversee inventory cost management; monitor transactions, update general ledgers, gather and analyze data, perform audits and assessments and produce regular inventory reports.

  • Posts bank transactions and reconciles bank accounts weekly and monthly

  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections

  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary information and documents to perform annual audit.

  • Manages the purchasing and invoicing system; Verifies vendor invoices associated with accounts payable, submits for approval and payment via the AP system.

  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures

  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting

  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Proactive and ability to work with minimal supervisionï‚·

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, intermediate to advanced skills preferred (very good in pivot tables and formulas).

  • Knowledge and experience in inventory management preferredï‚·

  • Skilled in Quickbooks accounting software


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administrationï‚·

  • At least three years of related experience required
